Kaiser reducing its management

Kaiser Permanente Hawaii said it is streamlining its management team by reducing to 17 from 36 people who report to Regional President Janet Liang and Executive Medical Director Dr. Geoff Sewell.
The management structure also has been broken into seven functional areas as part of Kaiser's effort to provide better patient care by better aligning physicians and operations. Kaiser said some people had been reassigned, while others in the new executive team had received promotions or recently joined Kaiser.
ROSE TO HEAD KPMG OFFICE
Accounting and consulting firm KPMG LLP has named a new managing partner for its Honolulu office, Nancy C. Rose, to succeed Patrick Ford.
Rose, 44, joined KPMG in 1993 in Sacramento, Calif., as an audit associate. She became a partner at the firm in 2004, and most recently was a lead engagement partner in Sacramento.
Rose will oversee 74 partners and professionals and be responsible for KPMG's strategic direction and growth, among other duties.
TAX PREPARER PLEADS GUILTY
Zenaida Lopez, a real-estate agent and tax preparer, pleaded guilty to 12 counts of tax violations, the state Department of Taxation reported yesterday.
Counts one through six charged Lopez with failing to file annual general excise tax returns from 1999 through 2004. Counts seven through 12 charged her with attempting to evade her general excise tax from 1999 through 2004.
Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 4 before Circuit Court Judge Michael Town.
