THE SHINS JULY 23
Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Wednesday for a July 23 concert by the hot pop band The Shins, whose "Wincing the Night Away" reached No. 2 on the Billboard album charts. The show, for those 18 and older, begins at 8 p.m. at Pipeline Cafe.

'SOUTH PACIFIC'
Hawaii Opera Theatre's production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical "South Pacific" takes the Blaisdell Concert Hall stage later this summer.
Veteran Isle performer Marlene Sai is Bloody Mary, who delivers the haunting hit song "Bali Ha'i." Others in the cast are Louis Otey as Emile de Becque, Curt Olds as Luther Billis and Michelle Jennings as Nellie Forbush.
Showtimes are 8 p.m. July 27 and Aug. 3; 4 p.m. July 29 and Aug. 5; 7:30 p.m. July 28 (military/group night; all seats $25 with military ID or in groups of 20 or more); and 2 p.m. Aug. 4 (family matinee; $10 children; $25, $35 adults).
