Advertiser Staff
The Hawai'i Kai Public Library will kick off the Summer Reading Program with a demonstration and lecture on the art of taiko drumming at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
The free 45-minute program is sponsored by the Friends of the Hawai'i Kai Public Library, the National Football League Charities, a grant through the Friends of the Library of Hawai'i and the University of Hawai'i Outreach College's statewide cultural extension program.
Percussion instruments of Japan include the Taiko, and the program will describe the traditional and contemporary use of these drums.
