HIBISCUS HYBRID FOR SINOTO

At a recent Bishop Museum staff meeting, Jill Coryell, aka the Hibiscus Lady of Mokul‘�ia, presented the institution's revered anthropologist, Yosihiko Sinoto, with a hibiscus hybrid named in his honor. Coryell has created more than 7,000 hibiscus hybrids, and the blooms of her latest, Sir Yosihiko Sinoto, are a blue-red. A surprised Sinoto helped Coryell plant some of the hybrids near the museum's entrance. Outrigger Hotels helped sponsor the hybridization project.
