One mom talking online says she hit gold: "We recently joined a part-time preschool program at our local YMCA. I just wanted to spread the word to all the parents out there. My son is usually quite reluctant to change, but within the first week of attending this program, when I picked him up, he told me, 'Momma, I like that school.' "

NEW BLOOM
HIBISCUS HYBRID FOR SINOTO
At a recent Bishop Museum staff meeting, Jill Coryell, aka the Hibiscus Lady of MokulԬia, presented the institution's revered anthropologist, Yosihiko Sinoto, with a hibiscus hybrid named in his honor. Coryell has created more than 7,000 hibiscus hybrids, and the blooms of her latest, Sir Yosihiko Sinoto, are a blue-red. A surprised Sinoto helped Coryell plant some of the hybrids near the museum's entrance. Outrigger Hotels helped sponsor the hybridization project.
