TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE
"Mean Girls" "30 Rock," 7:30 p.m., NBC. Tina Fey has been a huge plus for comedy fans. She's a terrific writer, a competent actress and an original thinker. She also has an impressive work ethic, as we see here. Fey writes, produces and stars (playing a TV producer) in "30 Rock." In this enjoyable rerun, she goes back to her old boyfriend. Back when she was on "Saturday Night Live," Fey wrote "Mean Girls" and co-starred as a teacher. It's a fairly clever film, with Lindsay Lohan - a good actress, no matter what people think of her personal life - as a decent teen, overwhelmed by a mean clique.
"Johnny Tsunami" (1999), 8 p.m., Disney Channel. A Hawaiian teen is stunned when his family moves to ski country in Vermont. You might want to catch this film because a fairly good sequel debuts tomorrow.
OF NOTE
"Fast Cars and Superstars," 7 p.m., ABC. The cars will be fast and some of the stars are super; they include John Elway (football), Serena Williams (tennis), Gabrielle Reece (volleyball) and Tony Hawk (skateboarding). Those and others - including William Shatner and Jewel - will learn from NASCAR drivers.
"My Name is Earl," 7 p.m., NBC. Joy goes to a much-needed class in anger management. Earl tries to teach Kenny to be assertive; he overachieves.
"Speeders" debut, 5 and 5:30 and again at 9 and 9:30 p.m., Court TV. Here's extremely low-budget TV. Mostly, we see tapes of people's reactions and excuses, after being stopped for speeding. The results are moderately amusing.
"So You Think You Can Dance," 8 p.m., Fox. Tonight, the field is trimmed to 20.
"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8 p.m., CBS. This reruns one of the episodes in which Keppler (Liev Schreiber) caused troubles as a temporary staffer. Tonight, he handles a case without mentioning that he knew the victim and the man who reported the crime.
"Shark," 9 p.m., CBS. Stark has his own ethical flaws tonight, when he keeps quiet about a friend who has a body in his home. More trouble: His daughter hasn't told him about her drunken-driving arrest.
"Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," 10 p.m., NBC. This series, which adroitly leaps between humor and stark drama, is on the dramatic side tonight. Jordan is rushed to the emergency room, after a pregnancy crisis.
