A pair of lovebirds animate real audio of an American couple talking about sex in “Creature Comforts,” a new CBS series that pokes fun at the mundane. The spinoff of an English concept debuts at 7 p.m.

TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE:
"Creature Comforts" debut, 7p.m., CBS. There's a wondrous simplicity here: Real people are interviewed about mundane subjects. Then stop-motion animation gives their comments to various creatures. A hippo discusses weight problems; lovebirds discuss sex. The words of wine-sniffing humans go to butt-sniffing dogs. This idea started in England, where drab accents added to the humor. The U.S. version retains some of that fun. The result is offbeat and off-center. Some people will find it hilarious; others will shrug.
TONIGHT'S IGNORE:
"Hell's Kitchen" season opener, 8 p.m., Fox. This cooking competition has assembled interesting people. They range from a big guy who cries instantly to a tiny guy who calls himself "a bulldog in a Chihuahua's body." The problem, however, is chef Gordon Ramsay. His rage is rarely accompanied by wit or insight; he also doesn't seem to realize that restaurants really need to serve food.

"On the Lot," 7 p.m., Fox. There are 15 filmmakers left.
"Inside the Actors Studio," 5 p.m., Bravo; and/or "The New Adventures of Old Christine," 7:30 p.m., CBS. You can see Julia Louis Dreyfuss being interviewed; you can also watch her in a "Christine" rerun. She has fallen for a handsome chap (Scott Bakula); now she's shaken when he show up on the school's Grandparents Day.
"Six Days in June," 9-11 p.m., PBS. Using declassified documents, this film views the 1967 events that led to Israel defeating its neighbors in less than a week.
"Inside the Taliban," 3 and 6 p.m., National Geographic Channel. A complex subject is told here with depth and balance. We see the birth, death and rebirth of the Afghanistan resistance, ranging from the Russian occupation to current times. Commenting are former members of governments and of the Taliban.
"How I Met Your Mother," 8:30 p.m., CBS. Who knew that Barney had a brother who is black and gay? Everyone did except Robin, according to this rerun.
"CSI: Miami," 9 p.m., CBS. Natalia is accused of killing Nick.
"The Riches," 7 and 8 p.m., FX. Things are caving in. Several people converge, each able to expose the family's double life.
