The governor released $1 million yesterday for a renovation of the Campus Center at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa.
The structure was built in 1974.
The money will go toward the first phase of renovation improvements, and includes $130,000 in design funds and $870,000 for construction. In the renovation, upgrades will be made to the ballroom and office and meeting space at the Campus Center. An annex will also be added.
"Upgrading the Campus Center will help improve the overall educational experience and campus life of our university students," Gov. Linda Lingle said.
Construction on the project is set to start in fall 2008.
