The 48-Hour Film Project, which gives filmmaking teams the opportunity to write, shoot and edit their film within a 48-hour period, July 20-22, after receiving a genre, character, prop and line of dialogue that they must work into their film. Aloha Performing Arts Company (Big Island), auditions for the Aug. 15-19 Original Play Festival XIV, 2:30 p.m. July 8 and 6:30 p.m. July 9 at the APAC loft in Kainaliu, Big Island. The festival includes staged readings of five plays with each playright on hand at the auditions to select actors for their individual plays. 2008 Narcissus Queen Pageant, sponsored by Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, is accepting applications for the pageant scheduled for Jan. 5. Contestants must be single (never married or given birth), 19-26 years old on the date of the pageant, at least one-half Chinese, and a Hawai'i resident. Application deadline is July 31. 533-3181.
