KEY FOR SPRING — GOTTA HAVE 'EM
Anything in eyelet: Tiffany Young of Bamboo Sky suggests a white or cream dress accented with black trim. A cropped jacket: Kerrie Lee, a buyer for Koko Cabana, loves this soft yet structured version from Mike & Chris, below left. A new shade of denim: Skinny jeans aren't over, and the latest are in a soft gray hue — look for Earnest Sewn at Koko Cabana and Habitual at Bamboo Sky. Or grab a pair of wide-leg jeans and pair them with a crisp white blouse.

Each fall, boutique owners and buyers flock to trade shows to scoop up the latest lines for spring. Kerrie Lee and Jasmine Slovak, buyers for Koko Cabana, and Tiffany Young, co-owner of Bamboo Sky, hit the Spring 2007 Designers & Agents trade show in L.A. in October and came back brimming with ideas. Here's their take:
High-waisted silhouettes: Cut a slim figure in high-waisted pencil skirts, shorts and trousers.
Blacks and neutrals: Breezy cotton pieces in white, cream or gray are paired with black.
Eyelet: From floaty frocks to structured jackets, the feminine fabric is everywhere this spring.
Dresses: Try a 1960s-style shift with a mile-high hemline, a voluminous trapeze style with easy pockets, or an ankle-length frock for daytime.
Bold colors: Straight out of a basic box of Crayolas — think yellows, blues and greens, especially. Try an attention-grabbing jersey dress or bright accessory.
Prints: Vintage florals, polka dots and '60s-inspired patterns are splashed across swingy jersey dresses and embroidered on cotton blouses.
Charm necklaces: Last season's chunky styles are giving way to more streamlined metal chains with a single cluster of charm pendants.
Rompers: Suspendered and bibbed shorts — try a short bloomer style or a longer Bermuda style.
