A pedestrian who was hit by a car in Honolulu on Thursday has died of her injuries, police said yesterday.
Lois Jeanine Reed, 66, of Honolulu, died Friday night, one day after being struck by a car at the intersection of Pi'ikoi and Beretania streets.
Police said Reed was crossing Beretania Street in a crosswalk shortly before 9:30 a.m. when she was struck by a light blue sport utility vehicle making a left turn.
Nearby residents and business people say the intersection is regarded as one of the most dangerous in Honolulu, with a combination of apartment buildings, restaurants, businesses, an elementary school and a nearby H-1 Freeway on-ramp contributing to the problem.
Reed is the eighth pedestrian to die as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Honolulu this year. Last year, 32 pedestrians were killed in Honolulu.
Honolulu police traffic investigators are investigating the case.
