The Hawai'i State Art Museum and Slow Food O'ahu present a free mini film festival from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Saturday. Two films, "Turtle World" and "Affluenza," focus on the consequences of wasteful practices and the sustainability of our resources. Pupu from eco-conscious Town restaurant will be served. BE HAWAI'I'S 'LATINO IDOL'
Fancy yourself an Island Marc Anthony or J.Lo? Nancy N. Ortiz, of the Hispanic Center of Hawai'i, is searching for candidates specializing in Latin or Hispanic music to become Hawai'i's Latino Idol. The top 10 candidates will participate in a sing-out between March 2 and May 2 at Panama Hattie's, the 'Aiea nightclub, at 99-016 Kamehameha Highway. First prize: $1,000 cash and recording session. The single CD will be featured in the 7th Annual Salsathon June 14-17. Ortiz is celebrating the 30th anniversary of her Alma Latina Radio Show on KWAI-1080 AM.
