Paper-weaving and fiber-arts demonstrations by the Hawai'i Handweavers' Hui will be showcased at today's "Straw into Gold" event at the Hawai'i State Art Museum. It's free, and it's part of the family-friendly downtown/Chinatown Second Saturday series of gallery walks and open houses.
Hands-on activities and demos take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room on the first floor.
Mini tours of the museum galleries will be available upon request, too.
The museum, at 250 S. Hotel St., is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
