COMING UP
SOCCER
Informational session for players interested in playing or curious about collegiate soccer will be held Jan. 8 at Kalaheo High School's cafeteria. The free session is scheduled for 7:30 to 9 p.m. Men's and women's soccer coaches from Brigham Young-Hawai'i, Chaminade, Hawai'i Pacific and Hawai'i-Hilo, and the University of Hawai'i women's teams have been invited to speak at the session. Topics include what coaches look for in potential student-athletes, what college soccer is like and financial aid and scholarships. Kalaheo college and career counselor April Inouye will provide a brief overview of high school academic requirements needed for NCAA eligibility. Players and parents will also be able to meet the coaches during a break-out session.
