SUNDAY'S MUST-SEE
"Mystery: Miss Marple: Ordeal by Innocence," 8 p.m., PBS. Here's the last of this season's tales with the splendid Geraldine McEwan as Miss Marple. Jacko Argyle has been convicted of killing his adoptive mother (played by Jane Seymour). He went to the gallows, protesting his innocence. Now, too late, an alibi appears and the case is re-opened. This story was also made into a 1984 movie, which was boosted by a Dave Brubeck score.
"The Company" finale, 5 p.m., TNT; reruns at 10 p.m. and midnight. Throughout the first two films, solemn CIA man James Angleton has insisted there's a spy in his midst. Jack McAuliffe (Chris O'Donnell) still expresses doubts; so do others, including Jack's friend Leo. Now the story peaks. There are surprises, jolts, then a rather moody, mellow finish.
OF NOTE
"Gymnastics," 6 p.m., NBC. This wraps up the two-day U.S. women's championship.
" 'Til Death," 7 p.m., Fox. In this rerun, Eddie thinks he's dying. The good news, he finds, is the sympathy sex.
"Army Wives," 7 p.m., Lifetime. Roxy has juggled two worlds, as a soldier's wife on the base and a saucy bartender in a nearby town. Now her husband wants her to quit the job.
"American Princess" season opener, 7 p.m., WE. A dozen women — from an ex-soldier to an ex-stripper — head to London to learn from royalty experts. One will receive $50,000, plus fame and a title - small fame, alas, because the show's audience is slight.
"Simpsons," 8 p.m., Fox. Forced to do a pointless interview with Homer, newscaster Kent Brockman utters a naughty word and sparks a scandal. That sets up a moderately funny episode that reruns here.
"High School Musical 2," 8 p.m., Disney Channel. This movie has already aired Friday and Saturday; tonight, words will appear on the screen for a sing-along, karaoke style.
"Desperate Housewives," 8 p.m., ABC. In a rerun, Susan, not the outdoorsy type, heads into the woods to find Mike. Meanwhile, Gabrielle goes to jail and Lynette wonders whom she's really in love with.
"Cold Case," 8 p.m., CBS. A cop, believed to be gay, was killed in 1968, this rerun says. Now new evidence surfaces.
"Shark," 9 p.m., CBS. In a rerun, a starlet who kept popping up in tabloid headlines has been killed. Did paparazzi run her off the road?
