A fundraiser will be held for retired lifeguard captain Ivan Harada on Sept. 5 at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Proceeds from the benefit will go to offset the medical expenses for Harada, who underwent a liver transplant.

Harada was a lifeguard for 28 years and also a surf instructor for the past 12.

The annual USPA Women's Challenge Cup will be at the Hawaii Polo Club in Mokule'ia on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Gates open at 11 a.m. and admission will be charged.
