Opener against UNC a hot ticket so far

The Nov. 23 Boise State football game is driving the sales of individual game University of Hawai'i tickets, but you might be surprised at the second most popular attraction on the 2007 schedule so far:
Northern Colorado.
Since individual game tickets went on sale Monday, sales for the Sept. 1 opener with Division I-AA Northern Colorado have outdistanced the demand for the Washington and Fresno State games, officials said yesterday.
UH has sold 1,670 tickets for the Boise State game, which, as the final conference game on the schedule, is seen as having the possibility of being a showdown for the Western Athletic Conference championship. The UNC game has sold 860 tickets, 200 more than the Dec. 1 regular season finale with Washington of the Pac-10 and 380 more than the Nov. 10 game with conference rival Fresno State.
With student season tickets still to go on sale Monday, UH said it has sold 20,825 season tickets. Last year, UH said it sold 18,125 season tickets, the fewest in nearly a quarter of a century.
Meanwhile, UH said it has sold 3,912 season tickets for Rainbow Wahine volleyball. There have been 734 single match tickets sold.
Student individual match tickets for volleyball go on sale Aug. 23 while individual student football tickets begin sale Aug. 27.
A spokesman for the Manoa Chancellor's office said new chancellor Virginia Hinshaw will continue the policy of providing buses to ferry students to and from UH home football games this season. Last year, under Denise Konan, $6,000 was spent on the project. The buses pick up students, free of charge, in front of Gateway House two hours before game time and leave Aloha Stadium 30 minutes after the game's conclusion.
