Barnwell shares drop 8 percent

Shares of Honolulu-based Barnwell Industries fell 8 percent yesterday after the company reported a sharp decline in second-quarter earnings.
Barnwell Industries Inc. said earnings fell to $743,000, or 9 cents a share for the three months ended June 30, compared with earnings of $3 million, or 37 cents a share a year ago. Third quarter revenues fell 31 percent to $11.8 million.
The real estate company that also operates an oil and natural gas business in North America blamed the decline on decreased earnings from its Kaupulehu Developments project on the Big Island.
AUNTIE PASTO'S OPENS ON MAUI
Local restaurateur Ed Wary has opened his third Auntie Pasto's, expanding the Italian restaurant to Maui's largest shopping mall, Queen Ka'ahumanu Center.
The restaurant is initially serving only dinner, but on Aug. 24 will begin serving both lunch and dinner — from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays.
Wary established Auntie Pasto's about 20 years ago on Beretania Street, and in 2005 opened a second location at the Kunia Shopping Center. Mark A. Stotts is the general manager for the Maui restaurant.
UH WARRIORS WILL FLY ALOHA
Aloha Airlines will provide charter service for the University of Hawai'i Warriors football team for all five of its away games this year.
Aloha has served as the UH football team's charter carrier for the past seven years but this will be the first time that the airline will fly the school's football team to all of its games on the Mainland.
"We're delighted to be the airline of choice for the 2007 Warriors football team," said Thom Nulty, an Aloha Airlines senior vice president. "Like Aloha Airlines, the Warriors have an excellent reputation to live up to and high expectations to meet. We're among their biggest fans and we know they'll do great this year."
