POLICE BEAT
Autopsy today in Kaimuki shooting

By Rod Ohira

An autopsy today will try to determine the cause and manner of death of a 27-year-old woman found dead in a Kaimuki apartment Saturday morning. Police said yesterday they are investigating the shooting as a homicide.

"There are suspicious circumstances that more than likely indicate it's a homicide," Lt. Bill Kato, head of Honolulu police homicide investigations, said yesterday.

No one has been arrested.

It is unclear when the woman died, but police said they believe it was between 9:30 p.m. Friday — when she was last seen alive by her roommate — and 1 a.m. Saturday.

The medical examiner's office has not identified the victim, but George Ormeno told The Advertiser Saturday the woman found dead Saturday in the apartment at 2920 South King St. was his wife, Trina Marie Ormeno. He said he and his wife were separated.

The body was found by her roommate at 7:45 a.m. Saturday.

She had been shot in the chest. A handgun was found at the scene but it was not known if it was the gun involved in her shooting, police said.
