BYUH women beat UH in tennis

The Brigham Young-Hawai'i women's tennis team, ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II, beat the University of Hawai'i, 5-2, yesterday at the UH Tennis Complex.
Yuliya Ustyuzhanina teamed with Dori Magas to help BYUH earn the doubles point with a sweep of the three matches, then defeated Kana Aikawa, 6-4, 6-2, in the No. 1 singles match as the Seasiders improved to 28-0.
Kun Deng and Anna Anikanova also won in doubles and singles for BYUH.
Sophie Kobuch and Julia Sandborn won their singles matches for the Rainbow Wahine (5-16).
Meanwhile, Andreas Weber and Sascha Heinemann helped the UH men beat the 14th-ranked Seasiders, 6-1.
Weber and Heinemann teamed to win the No. 1 doubles match, and also won in singles for UH (7-10).
Jakub Huza won at No. 4 singles for BYUH (12-3).
SOFTBALL
HPU SWEEPS BYUH
Clerisse Lemke pitched a six-hitter and Nicole Kalakau ended the game by hitting a two-run homer with one out in the bottom of the sixth as host Hawai'i Pacific beat Brigham Young-Hawai'i, 9-1, yesterday in a Pacific West Conference game shortened by the mercy rule.
Casey Sugihara and Krystal Plunkett each hit two-run doubles as the Sea Warriors (30-10, 16-2) swept a doubleheader from the Seasiders (17-28, 7-11).
In the opener, Sherise Musquiz and Lemke teamed on a two-hitter as HPU won, 11-0, in five innings.
Plunkett hit a two-run homer and RBI double, and Casey Taylor added an RBI single and run-scoring triple for HPU.
UH BEATS CU
Kate Robinson pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Hawai'i defeated Chaminade, 5-0, last night in an exhibition game at Rainbow Wahine Stadium.
Kathryn Grimes hit a solo homer off teammate Jessica Morton, who pitched for Chaminade.
In an intrasquad scrimmage, Justine Smethurst pitched a one-hitter and hit an RBI single in the top of the seventh as UH White beat UH Black, 1-0.
