HOMEGROWN REPORT
Chargers' Triana to play DIII football

Pearl City High offensive lineman Alberto Triana said he will continue his football career at Lake Forest College in Illinois.

Triana, who is 6 feet 3 and 310 pounds, said the school offered the best financial package that matched his interests in football and film making. He said the combination of athletic and academic aid is worth $40,000 per year and is more than enough to cover tuition and room and board.

"I had a few other offers, but this is more right for me," Triana said. "Overall, this will be a better experience for me because it's not just about sports."

Triana wants to major in film and acting.

Lake Forest is an NCAA Division III program in the Midwest Conference.

Triana said he sent out DVDs of his football games to prospective schools. He also received an offer from Iowa Wesleyan and drew interest from Lewis & Clark College.

Besides playing football for the Chargers, Triana has participated in the school's drama department plays. As a junior, he played the lead role in "Hamlet." He is preparing for this year's school play, "The Chronicles of Narnia."
