Today is the deadline for Big Island property owners to file appeals of their property tax assessments for next year.

Assessments were mailed out last month setting the taxable values and any exemptions approved for each property.

Owners who don't agree with the values or claim an exemption that wasn't approved can file appeals with the Tax Board of Review or Tax Appeal Court.

A $15 deposit is required for each Tax Board of Review appeal, and a $3 deposit is required for each appeal to the tax court.
