Brickwood Galuteria and Kimo Kahoano, a popular radio morning drive duo of the early 1990s, have reunited under auspices of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, from 7 to 9 a.m. weekdays on KKNE-AM (940).

"This reunion allows us to support the Hawaiian community, talk about some of the issues, and play some nice Hawaiian music," said Galuteria. "There will be big issues coming up — the Akaka bill, Kamehameha Schools, a lot of hot buttons — so we'll have guests, some pro, some anti, for balanced coverage to give the listeners some informed decisions."

"There will be no pressure — just fun — but we'll have the chance to talk about issues," said Kahoano. "And there will be a good mix — talk and music — and I get to play my 'Aloha Friday' song again on Fridays."

"We want to provide a forum where people can get up-to-date information on what's going on in the Hawaiian community, especially as we move toward self-determination to preserve and perpetuate our native culture," said OHA administrator Clyde Namu'o.

When they last hosted morning drive on KCCN-FM (100), circa 1992, Galuteria and Kahoano were second in ratings to KSSK's Michael W. Perry and Larry Price. The reunion means the pair will become the faces and voices of OHA on KKNE, a Cox Radio station.

With Merrie Monarch beginning in Hilo on Wednesday, Kahoano — who hosts the hula festival — will simulcast from the Big Island, with Galuteria remaining in Honolulu.

UNFLATTERING ROLE GETS FILM REMAKE

NEW YORK — Oscar nominee Imelda Staunton wasn't exactly flattered when a friend first suggested she'd be perfect for the part of Harry Potter's first female nemesis, Dolores Umbridge.

"I read the book, and Umbridge is described as a short, ugly, toadlike woman," Staunton told Newsweek. "I thought, 'Oh, thanks very much."'

But Staunton ended up playing the villainess as an "apple-cheeked schoolmarm — drenched in pink angora," the magazine says. In "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," the fifth movie based on the J.K. Rowling series, Umbridge is a new teacher at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry bent on restricting free thought.

"There can't be any mess or individuality," Staunton said. "But, of course, that leads to brainwashed people."

Staunton was nominated for a best-actress Academy Award for playing Vera Drake in the eponymous 2004 movie.

"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" is to be released July 13.

REALTY REALITY ON TRUMP TV SHOW

LAS VEGAS — Donald Trump is using his assistant-grooming reality show to sell units in his second Las Vegas condominium tower.

For a one-hour episode of "The Apprentice" that aired yesterday, contestants were tasked with devising a marketing plan for Trump Tower II, which like its predecessor will be 64 stories of gold glass just off the Las Vegas Strip, developers said.

The challenge is formidable. Las Vegas' once-hot condo market has cooled in the past year, leaving dozens of projects stalled in blueprint stages and many condo buyers wanting out.

Tower II, targeted for completion in 2010, is estimated to cost $700 million. Gross sales on the towers are projected to reach $2.5 billion, making it Trump's largest project to date.
