Arnie's Army only has to march down the road. The Wendy's Champions Skins Game will stay on Maui, moving from Wailea to Ka'anapali Resort for its 21st tee time next year. The deal is for three years.

The made-for-TV exhibition, which recently has been the only place to see golf icons Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus playing together, is scheduled for Feb. 23 and 24 at the Royal Ka'anapali Course. Players and format will be finalized later.

ESPN will telecast the event, which the resort wanted to help people "rediscover the resort," according to Ka'anapali Golf general manager Ed Kageyama.

"Ka'anapali has not been on the tournament map since 2000, the last year of the Ka'anapali Classic," he said. "In the last few years we've had a lot of renovation and investment in the resort. We need to get back on the tournament map. We're excited to showcase all our changes."

The resort has invested $13 million since 2004, making massive changes to both courses — Ka'anapali Kai (the old South Course) and Royal Ka'anapali (old North Course) — and the clubhouse. Royal Ka'anapali just re-opened in December.

The immense popularity of Palmer and Nicklaus is why senior skins has thrived since its inception in 1988. Palmer, 77, has played 19, winning three (the last in 1993). Nicklaus, 67, has played 17 and also won three, the last in January with Tom Watson.

The first two Senior Skins Games were played at Turtle Bay and La Quinta (Calif.). The event found a home at Mauna Lani the next 11 years, and moved to Wailea in 2001. The number of players doubled (to eight) in 2006 and the format changed to alternate-shot, with the purse upped to $770,000. The format change was made, in part, to help Palmer and Nicklaus remain competitive.
