Tomorrow is Children & Youth Day — an all-day event in the capitol district — and there's lots to do. The Hawai'i State Art Museum celebrates with free art activities, live bands (ska, punk and hip-hop) and dance performances. Kids can learn how to make a musical instrument, paint or become a recording star.
The United Nations Hawai'i booth at the state Capitol will feature "My Dream for the Future," a children's interactive art project to get kids to "unite the world with aloha." Art created at the booth will be displayed at the Aloha Peace Forum Oct. 14-15 at the SGI Hawai'i Culture Center then made into a book. The project is spearheaded by Hono-lulu Waldorf School senior Christopher Matar.
Also at the state Capitol will be a Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament. The Mission Auditorium, on the Honolulu Hale grounds, will screen a showcase of films by Hawai'i students.
