Visitor guide publisher sold

Advertiser Staff

Georgia-based Morris Visitor Publications is expanding its presence in Hawai'i with the acquisition of Network Media, a visitor-oriented publishing and broadcast company based in Honolulu.

Network Media's publications have received awards for excellence in graphics and photography. Its visitor guide, Best of Oahu, received the first-place award as Hawai'i's Best Visitor Publication in the 2004 Hawai'i Publishers Association's Pa'i competition. Its television programs this year received seven Telly awards, which recognize outstanding local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs.

Morris entered Hawai'i in 2003 with the acquisition of Guest Informant, publisher of hardbound books featured in hotel rooms nationwide.

PANELS SUPPORT ST. FRANCIS SALE

Three state Health Department panels are recommending the approval of the sale of the St. Francis hospitals to an investment group that includes more than 100 local doctors.

The State Health Planning and Development Agency's review committees gave their approval recommendations to the agency's director, David Sakamoto, who also must approve the sale.

The seller, St. Francis Healthcare System, said it recently received the approval for the $67.9 million deal from the Vatican. The sale, which is expected to close at the end of the year, also requires approvals from the state attorney general and the U.S. Department of Justice.
