Four prep seniors earn football honors

Four Hawai'i high school senior football players have been nominated for consideration to play in the 2007 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, Jan. 6, 2007, in San Antonio's Alamodome.
The game features the nation's best high school seniors, and will be broadcast live on NBC.
Kaniela Tuipulotu (Kahuku defensive tackle), Matthew Masifilo (Campbell defensive tackle), Michael Matamua (Kapolei offensive lineman) and Sam-Earl Fehoko (Farrington linebacker) are among 400 prep athletes being considered to play in the East vs. West game that will be pared to 80 players.
The selection committee is comprised of Scout.com, an independent online recruiting network, Tom Lemming (CSTV), a talent evaluator and USA Today contributor, and SportsLink Inc., producer of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and National Combine.
The next step for the nominees will be Sept. 19 when the U.S. Army All-American Selection Tour begins. The tour will conclude in December after 80 U.S. Army All-Americans have been named to the team.
Last year's Kahuku defensive lineman Joe Faifili was Hawai'i's first selection to the game.

LAM FALLS AT PRO CLASSIC
Hawai'i's Chris Lam fell to Matt Bruch, 6-3, 6-0, in the Round of 16 at the Pomona Valley Pro Classic yesterday.The $10,000 USTA Futures event is played at Claremont Club in California.
Lam, part of UCLA's 2005 NCAA Championship team his senior year, will play three more Futures events and a Challenger in California before coming home in November. The $15,000 Waikoloa Futures starts Nov. 6, followed by the $15,000 Honolulu Futures the following week and the $50,000 Wailea Challenger Nov. 27.
Lam is 878th in this week's world rankings.
SOCCER
BYUH CAMP FOR BOYS
The Brigham Young-Hawai'i men's soccer team will host a free clinic for boys on Sept. 22 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the BYUH soccer field.
The clinic is open to boys ages 8 to 13 and is limited to the first 100 to submit completed registration forms.
Instruction will focus on defense, shooting, dribbling, footwork and scrimmage play.
To register print the registration form and release from the BYUH athletics Web site (http://w2.byuh.edu/sports/MSoccer/Camps/boyscamp2006.htm) and fax, mail, or bring in the form to the BYUH athletic department (attention men's soccer). Registration deadline is Sept. 21 at 5 p.m.
Participants should report to the BYUH soccer field by 4 p.m. on Sept. 22, bringing their own water and ball with their name on it.
