Paul Bacon, 74, had 'a kind and generous heart'

Paul (Irenio) "Dad" "Papa" "Uncle Paul" Bacon, 74, a retired city refuse collector who worked part-time at the Hawai'i Newspaper Agency, as a mailer, for 37 years, died Sept. 7, 2006 at his Pearl City home.

Bacon was born in 'Ewa Beach and graduated from Castle High. "He was a great man with a kind and generous heart and loved by many whose lives he touched," said his son, Robin P. Bacon.

He is also survived by wife, Dorothea "Dora"; daughter, Donna Marie K. Rosa; sister, Grace Rabor; hanai brother, Joe Mochizuki; hanai children, Gordon Aoki, Tony Saguid, Frank and Reina Empron, Darryl Kanana, Richard Clark, John Rosa, Bernie Kaeka-Bacon, Tina Brown, Darlene Ho, Susan Bacon and Maureen Elliott; 10 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; two great-grandsons; and two stepgreat-grandsons.

Visitation 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Diamond Head Mortuary; service 7 p.m. Visitation also 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursday at the mortuary; service noon; burial 12:45 p.m. at Diamond Head Memorial Park.
