TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Men in Trees" debut, 9 p.m., ABC; then moves to 8 p.m. Fridays. Marin Frist (Anne Heche) is a know-it-all. She's a life coach telling women how their lives can be as perfect as hers. Then her life crumbles just as she visits a small town in Alaska. Writer-producer Jenny Bicks ("Sex and the City") is trying the same thing Marc Cherry did with "Desperate Housewives" — a drama, spiced with the wit of a sitcom writer. This opener has a cheery, "Northern Exposure" charm.

"Big Brother All-Stars" and "Rock Star: Supernova," 7 and 8 p.m., CBS. This is the big week for CBS' reality shows. Tonight, "Big Brother" names its $500,000 winner. The jury can choose Erika Landin, 36; Mike "Boogie" Malin, 36; or Janelle Pierzina, 26. Then "Rock Star" finalists perform and viewers vote. We'll learn who won tomorrow. And on Thursday "Survivor" starts its season.

OF NOTE

"Dancing With the Stars" season-opener, 7 p.m., ABC. A fresh batch of contestants arrives. We expect good dancing from singers (Willa Ford, Sara Evans, Joe Lawrence) and actors (Vivica A. Fox, Monique Coleman, Mario Lopez and Harry Hamlin — whose wife, Lisa Rinna, has also done the show). More intriguing might be Jerry Springer, news commentator Tucker Carlson, Emmitt Smith and Shanna Moakler, a former Playboy Playmate who is about to become former blink-182 drummer Travis Barker's ex-wife.

"House," 7 p.m., Fox. Last week's season-opener startled viewers by showing Dr. House cured of his leg pain. By the end, the pain was back and he had stolen his friend's prescription pad to get Vicodin. Tonight, colleagues debate his condition while he deals with a bleeding 7-year-old boy who talked of attacks from aliens.
