Michael Tamashiro, a 31-year Honolulu Police Department veteran, has been promoted to assistant chief of the regional patrol bureau.
The promotion took effect Sept. 17.
Tamashiro, 57, replaces Assistant Chief Bryan Wauke, who succeeded the retired Stephen Watarai as head of the Special Field Operations Bureau.
Police spokesman Capt. Frank Fujii said recently promoted Maj. Michael Moses will succeed Tamashiro as District 8 (Kapolei-Wai'anae) commander and that Capt. Greg Lefcourt will take over for Moses as executive officer for District 4 (Kailua-Kane'ohe-Kahuku).
