Hawai'i team wins hoops title

"Team Aloha" — a select group of Hawai'i high school girls basketball players — won the prestigious Nike Storm and Swish Fall Shootout tournament championship yesterday at Santa Barbara, Calif.
Punahou junior Shawna-Lei Kuehu scored 21 points and Honoka'a senior Keisha Kanekoa added 13 points to lead Team Aloha past the California Storm Black, 60-48, in the title game. California Storm featured all-star players from Southern California.
Team Aloha went 5-0 in the tournament, which was watched by college coaches from UCLA, Southern Cal, Notre Dame, Washington State, Oregon, UC Santa Barbara, Loyola Marymount and Hawai'i, among others.

UH WOMEN LOSE, 4-2
San Diego scored three second-half goals, including two by Ashley Kirk, to defeat visiting Hawai'i, 4-2, in a women's soccer game yesterday.
Hawai'i fell to 6-4-2. San Diego is 8-4.
Leigh Ann Robinson scored 2 minutes, 15 seconds into the game to give San Diego a 1-0 lead. Taryn Fukuroku scored on a header at 35:15 and on a low-liner from 10 yards out with 28 seconds remaining in the half to give UH a 2-1 lead.
Kirk scored at 51:10 and 67 minutes to give the Toreros a 3-2 lead. Robinson scored her second goal at 82:54. UH was outshot by San Diego, 8-1, in the second half.
