King of Thailand donates pavilion

A traditional Thai sala, or pavilion, has been donated to the East-West Center by King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand.
The new pavilion is replacing an older one bestowed on the center by Thailand in 1967, the first royal sala to be built outside of Thailand.
The sala is mauka of the Hawaii Imin International Conference Center at Jefferson Hall.
The new sala was designed by Pinyo Suwankiri, a professor at Bangkok's prestigious Chulalongkorn University. Suwankiri is a Fellow of the Royal Institute and the foremost designer of traditional structures in Thailand.
