Sela sweeps Joseph to win Waikoloa tennis tourney

Top-seeded Dudi Sela defeated second-seeded Lesley Joseph, 6-1, 6-4, yesterday to win the Hilton Waikoloa Futures tournament at Waikoloa's Kohala Tennis Garden.
Meanwhile, qualifying for the Honolulu Futures concludes today at the University of Hawai'i Tennis Complex.
The four semifinalists in the qualifying draw will receive a wild card entry into the main draw, which begins tomorrow.

EX-'BOW BOWN LEADS U.S. PAST GERMANY
The United States got 23 points each from former University of Hawai'i standout Heather Bown and Tayyiba Haneef to beat Germany, 25-27, 25-23, 19-25, 26-24, 15-11, in the second round of the women's world volleyball championships yesterday at Osaka, Japan.

'IOLANI-KAIMUKI PLAYOFF RESCHEDULED
The Division II football state tournament first-round game between 'Iolani and Kaimuki has been moved to 2 p.m. on Saturday at 'Iolani's Eddie Hamada Field.
It originally was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Radford's John Velasco Stadium, but 'Iolani requested to host the game after winning the Interscholastic League of Honolulu DII title on Saturday night with a victory over Damien.
Earlier, the site for Friday night's Division I first-round game between Kealakehe and Wai'anae was moved to Wai'anae's Raymond Torii Stadium. It originally had been scheduled to be played at Mililani.
SURFING
OP PRO HAWAI'I POSTPONED YESTERDAY
The opening day of the Op Pro Hawai'i surfing contest was postponed yesterday due to insufficient waves at Hale'iwa Ali'i Beach.
It is the first event in the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.
Contest officials have until Nov. 22 to complete the event.

SAILING
'BOWS PLACE THIRD AT SANTA BARBARA RACE
The University of Hawai'i coed sailing team concluded its fall season by finishing third at the 18-team North/South Intersectional yesterday at Santa Barbara, Calif.
UH had 138 points. Stanford won with a team-low 123 points.
