"TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR MONEY," an annual televised series of discussions on money management, will be presented by the University of Hawai'i Cooperative Extension Service, Honolulu Community College and other collaborators. The series will focus this year on two topics: issues for seniors and basic financial management. The first series, "The Senior Issues Series," will be broadcast in eight sessions, 8-9 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, today through June 7 (rebroadcast same times, June 29 to July 10; and Aug. 1-10). The second series, "The Financial Management Basics Series," will have six televised sessions, from noon-1 p.m. Tuesdays, July 4-8 (rebroadcast 6-7 p.m. on those dates). The series will be broadcast on Channel 55 on O'ahu, Kaua'i and the Big Island. An optional viewer's guide is available for a fee. For information, call (808) 956-7138; or see www.ctahr.hawaii .edu/tcyour$.
Big Island residents will share their experiences with hospice or end-of-life-care issues — as well as other topics of interest to Hawai'i's kupuna — in the five-session AKAMAI ELDER SERIES offered in June on the Big Island. The workshops are sponsored by the University of Hawai'i-Hilo's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, and the Office of Aging's community group, Hamakua Partners in Eldercare. They are scheduled various times on consecutive Thursdays, this week through June 29 in the North Hawai'i Education and Research Center (the old Honoka'a Hospital site), and will help elders and families plan for the future. Information: Bill Kunstman, (808) 756-2127. Registration/times: (808) 974-7664.
