TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE:

"Saturday Night Live," 10:30 p.m., NBC. During this "sweeps" ratings month "Saturday Night Live" brings out the star power. Last week was Tom Hanks; tonight is Julia Louis-Dreyfus, whose comedy ("The New Adventures of the Old Christine," on CBS) has been worth catching. Paul Simon, long an "SNL" favorite, is the musical guest.

"CNN Presents: Chasing Angelina — Paparazzi and Celebrity Obsession," 2 and 5 p.m., CNN. Celebrity magazines have a combined circulation of 8.5 million, this interesting documentary says. That provides an endless audience for photos and scoops and such. At one extreme are the stalking photographers. They race through traffic, using multiple cars and high-tech communication to chase Angelina Jolie and others. At the other is People magazine (a corporate partner of CNN), getting a scoop the old-fashioned way — by making a hefty donation to a Jolie charity.

OF NOTE

"Sarah, Plain and Tall," "Skylark" and "Sarah: Plain and Tall: Winter's End," noon, 2 and 4 p.m., Hallmark Channel. Glenn Close is neither tall (she's 5-feet-4) or plain. She is, however, a fine actress who steps easily into this role. A quiet widower (Christopher Walken) advertises for a wife to share his life and his farm in 1910. Close arrives. Gently paced and beautifully filmed, these productions have the qualities we expect from "Hallmark Hall of Fame."

"NASCAR Racing: Nextel Cup in Darlington, S.C.," 12:30 p.m., Fox. NASCAR has its Dodge Charger 500 from Darlington, S.C.

"CSI: Miami," 7 p.m., CBS. In a rerun, some people are watching dancers at a beach pavilion when they are shot and killed. Police suspect a gang involvement.

"CSI: NY," 8 p.m., CBS. A stripper is killed and placed on a klieg light so her silhouette flashes on the Chrysler Building. Also in this rerun, Danny investigates a murder and ends up trapped in a rich man's panic room.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," 8 p.m., NBC. This rerun has Chris "Ludacris" Bridges ("Crash") as a cousin of Fin's son. Both are suspects in two murders.

"Law & Order: Criminal Intent," 9 p.m., NBC. After a lobbyist finds his wife dead, he starts erasing computer information about his dealings. Police wonder what he's hiding in this rerun.
