Kahuku holding after-prom event for all

Members of Kahuku High School's Peer Education Program have planned a special event to help fellow students stay safe this prom season.
What: A school-sanctioned after-prom event featuring sports activities, video games, dancing, snacks, karaoke and more.
When: 11:30 p.m. tomorrow until 5 a.m. Saturday.
Who: All Kahuku High students, whether or not they attend prom.
Why: To avoid underage drinking and other high-risk activities and respond to new provisional driver's license restrictions for teens.
How to help: Donations are needed to help with expenses. Call adviser Wendy Wells at 293-8950.

The University of Pennsylvania has decided to pay tuition and room-and-board for students whose families earn less than $50,000 a year in an effort to economically diversify its student population.
Penn's program, which applies to current and incoming students, will cover 300 to 400 students. A Penn undergraduate pays $32,364 in tuition and $9,402 in room-and-board per year.
