Rules clinic scheduled for April 15

A golf rules clinic will be conducted by the Hawai'i State Junior Golf Association on April 15, from noon to 2 p.m., at the range on the Naniloa Volcano Resort Golf Course on the Big Island.
The clinic will focus on rule changes and also include an overview. It will be conducted by former LPGA player Mary Bea Porter-King, who used to be on the U.S. Golf Association Executive Committee and has been a rules official at The Masters and 19 USGA Championships.
The clinic is free to HSJGA members and their families, and $5 for nonmembers. For more information, contact the HSJGA at 532-0559 on O'ahu or at HSJGA.org.
COMING UP
Entries are being accepted for the AIG Aloha Section PGA Scramble March 31 at the Turtle Bay Resort's Fazio and Palmer courses. The cost is $200 per player for the six-person (one professional, five amateurs) team event. For more information, call the Aloha Section PGA office at 593-2230.
Amatour Hawai'i's Qualifier will be Saturday and Sunday at Makaha Resort. The qualifier will launch Amatour's fifth season. Nearly 300 golfers have played on the tour, including Hawai'i Golf Hall of Fame members Art Fujita and Wendell Kop.
Entry forms are out for the Mid-Pacific Open, April 20 to 23, and Jennie K. Invitational, May 5 to 7. Both tournaments are cutting their fields to try and speed up play at Mid-Pacific Country Club. The Open will reduce its field by 16 (to 208) and increase its cut to 50 percent. The Jennie K. is limiting its field to 120.
