TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE
"The New Adventures of Old Christine" debut, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m., CBS. As this comedy begins, Christine (Julia LouisDreyfus) is trying to convince herself she's happy. She has a nice home, a business and a sweet son who managed (barely) to get into a ritzy private school. She also has a friendly relationship with her exhusband. Then she learns he has a young girlfriend also named Christine. Also, she has some fresh doubts about that school. Easily flustered and frazzled two things Louis-Dreyfus plays beautifully she claims to be fine. She is, fortunately, a bad liar.
OF NOTE
"Prison Break," 7 p.m., Fox. This terrific show returns to new episodes next week. First, here's a second chance to see the cliffhanger. On the night before Lincoln is scheduled to be executed, his brother starts the escape plan. Meanwhile, Veronica talks to a reporter then learns how far people will go to maintain the cover-up.
"Augusta, Gone," 7 p.m., Lifetime. This film is based on the real-life story of a mother and daughter, fighting about drugs and rebellion. The real people are shown at the end of the movie, but you may not last that long. The first hour tends to be shrill and monotone. Mika Boorem is excellent as the troubled teen; Sharon Lawrence and Tim Matheson (who also directed) play her parents.
"Wildfire," 8 p.m., ABC Family. Circumstances force Kris to ride another horse against her beloved Wildfire. That's part of an hour with some tense moments. "Wildfire" continues to seek the tricky balance between solid drama and overwrought soap opera.
"24," 8 p.m., Fox. Last week ended with one of the most powerful moments in the show's history. With nerve gas drifting through CTU headquarters, staffers retreated to an airtight office. Helplessly, they watched colleagues die including the good-hearted Edgar. Tonight, the survivors figure out their next step. They include Jack, Kim, Chloe and Henderson, who helped terrorists get the nerve gas.
"Two and a Half Men," 8 p.m., CBS. Jon Lovitz plays the pompous winner at an awards banquet for jingle-writers.
"The Apprentice," 8 p.m., NBC. Last week, Stacy caused a stir by accusing Brent of threatening her. That isn't the way it looked to viewers or to Ivanka Trump, who aids her dad on the show. Donald Trump promptly fired both Stacy and project leader Jose (known as Pepi), while predicting Brent won't last long. We'll see tonight, as the teams plan a corporate retreat.
"Miracle Workers," 9 p.m., ABC. One of tonight's stories focuses on a wonderfully likable California family. A 4-year-old suffers from a syndrome that fuses his rib cage. Doctors consider an experimental approach that would expand his rib cage, allowing him to grow to his full height.
