All about movies on Maui this weekend

The Maui Film Festival, a showcase of movies, movie-related panels, movie-star tributes and more, continues through the weekend.

At the bigger movie venues are these features:

Today

8 p.m. "The OH in Ohio." Parker Posey, Paul Rudd and Danny DeVito star in a comedy about a woman who was never much into sex, but finally discovers the Big O and true love.

10 p.m. "The Groomsmen." A groom celebrates his final days of bachelorhood with his four groomsmen. Starring Edward Burns, John Leguizamo and Jay Mohr.

Saturday

8 p.m. "The Illusionist." Edward Norton, Paul Giamatti and Jessica Biel star in a romantic drama about a magician who casts a spell on the princess he loves.

10 p.m. Surprise screening

Sunday

8 p.m. "Monster House." Animated tale about a house in the neighborhood that seems to have a real monster. With the voices of Steve Buscemi, Maggie Gyllenhaal, John Heder and Catherine O'Hara. PG.

10 p.m. "Letting Go: Kelly Slater." Documentary follows the surf champion's 2005 season and his comeback against Andy Irons.

Followed by "Chasing Dora." The surf documentary was inspired by The Surfer's Journal article "The Aquatic Ape" by Mickey Dora and is directed by Wes Brown, grandson of Bruce Brown ("Endless Summer") and son of Dana Brown ("Step into Liquid").

5 p.m. "The Big Bad Swim." Comedy/drama about conquering the fear of swimming stars Jeff Branson, Paget Brewster and Jess Weixler.

7:30 p.m. "The Treatment." Romantic comedy about a man who meets the woman of his dreams as he struggles with his anxiety-inducing therapist.

9:30 p.m. Digital Shorts Showcase

Saturday

2 p.m. "Nobelity." Documentary focuses on nine Nobel laureates who talk about their expectations for the world's future.

5 p.m. "The Gathering: Return of the Whale Dreamers." A tale of the wisdom of indigenous elders.

7:30 p.m. "One Love." Ky-Mani Marley, son of reggae legend Bob Marley, stars with Cherine Anderson in a kind of modern "Romeo and Juliet."

9:30 p.m. "Sp!t." Documentary follows four spoken-word poets.

Sunday

2 p.m. 35mm Shorts Showcase

5 p.m. "An Inconvenient Truth." Al Gore is featured in a documentary about global warming. Seating is limited to 300. Review on Page 36.

7:30 p.m. "Conversations with Other Women." A man and a woman flirt at a wedding reception, and the backstory is revealed. Aaron Eckhard and Helena Bonham Carter star.

5 p.m. "Our Own Private Bin Laden." Documentary by an Iranian-American woman looks at the cause of 9/11.

Followed by "The War Tapes." A documentary about the Iraq war, filmed by three National Guardsmen who were there.

7:30 p.m. "Amongst White Clouds." Director Edward Burger explores the traditions of the forgotten Zen Buddhist hermits in China.

Followed by "The Giant Buddhas." Filmmaker Christian Frei looks at the destruction of two colossal statues of Buddha in Afghanistan.

9:30 p.m. "Burning Man: Beyond Black Rock." Documentary focuses on the Burning Man Arts Festival.

Saturday

2 p.m. "Passing the Gift: Malama Honokowai." Mauians discover ancient treasures in fallow Honokowai Valley.

Followed by "Hawaii Slam: Poetry in Paradise." Documentary follows the four poets as they represent Hawai'i in the 2004 slam poetry nationals in St. Louis.

5 p.m. "Maxed Out!" A look at the industry of debt.

Followed by "A Crude Awakening: The Oil Crash." How our addiction to oil will lead us to the inevitable.

7:30 p.m. "Sofia." Documentary about Sofia Mulanovich, a 20-year-old Peruvian champion in women's professional surfing.

Followed by "Parallelojams." A look at rock-climbing addicts in Indian Creek, Utah.

2 p.m. Digital Shorts Showcase

5 p.m. "Sound of the Soul: Fez Festival of World Music." The ancient city Fez hosts a celebration of sacred music.

Followed by "The Refugee All Stars." Six Sierra Leone refugees band together to heal emotional wounds through music.

7:30 p.m. "Burning Man: Beyond Black Rock." Documentary focuses on the Burning Man Arts Festival.
