The Spiritual Life Center will hold a temple tour 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 24, led by the Rev. Gregory Johnson, who heads Good Samaritan Church and teaches at Hawai'i Pacific University.

The tour concludes with an "open dialogue session" and box lunch; cost is $25.

FEAST OF THE HOLY GHOST PROCESSION TOMORROW

The Brotherhood of the Holy Ghost of the Holy Trinity will host a traditional Feast of the Holy Ghost procession tomorrow to Blessed Sacrament Church.

The 8:30 a.m. procession begins at the brotherhood's headquarters, 1774 Puo-waina Drive and will be followed by a special High Mass at 9 a.m. After that, they process back to the Holy Ghost grounds. Lunch and an auction follow. The Royal Hawaiian Band will join the procession to the church.

ANCIENT CHINOWA RITUAL JULY 1 AT SHINTO SHRINE

The Hawaii Kotohira Jinsha — Hawaii Dazaifu Tenmangu will conduct its first ancient chinowa ritual at 4 p.m. July 1 at the Shinto shrine.

The ritual will incorporate Hawai'i touches, including the use of ti leaves.

Chinowa Kuguri is one of Japan's oldest traditions, dating to the eighth century. A chinowa is a ring of renewal.

For centuries, the Japanese have observed this summer ritual by being led through a chinowa, a large ring made of reeds, which symbolizes energizing the physical, emotional and spiritual life force for the second half of the year.

After the chinowa ceremony will be traditional Japanese summer games and foods. Parking is available at Damien Memorial High School with free shuttle service.
