SATURDAY SCOOPS
Grab seat, shade for weekend parades
Advertiser Staff
If you love parades (and who, besides beleaguered Waikiki residents, doesn't?), this is the weekend you've been waiting for. Power up those digital cameras because:
Today's King Kamehameha Celebration floral parade will feature pa'u riders, floats, marching bands and more. It begins at 9:30 a.m. at King and Richards streets downtown, travels along King Street, Punchbowl, Ala Moana and Kalakaua, and ends at Kapi'olani Park.
Tomorrow's Pan-Pacific Matsuri in Hawaii grand parade takes a simpler route, but is no less colorful, along Kalakaua Avenue from Fort DeRussy to Kapi'olani Park. It begins at 5 p.m. and features more than 1,000 marchers and floats from Japan.
