Lee captures wrestling gold medal

Moanalua High graduate Stephany Lee won a gold medal in women's freestyle wrestling Sunday at the Pan American Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Lee, a junior at Missouri Valley College, won the 72-kilogram (158.5 pounds) division. She finished 4-0 in the round-robin format that was used in her weight class.

LAJOLA FALLS IN DOUBLES AT FRENCH OPEN

Fifth-seeded Roman Jebavy, of the Czech Republic, and Hans Podlipnick, of Chile, defeated 'Aiea's Dennis Lajola and Taiwan's Lee Hsin-han, 6-2, 5-7, 7-5, yesterday in a second-round doubles match of the French Open Juniors in Paris.

Lajola attends the International Tennis Academy in Delray Beach, Fla.


FOOTBALL

HAWAIIAN WARRIOR TEAMS SEEK PLAYERS

The Hawaiian Warrior community-based, non-profit youth and adult tackle football teams are looking for a few players to play against a visiting team from Las Vegas on July 1.

Youth players must be between 12 and 14 and weigh between 155 and 300 pounds. Adult players must be between 18 and 35. The teams practice Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Pilila'au Park and sometimes at Nanakuli Park.

Participation is free.
