In an Interscholastic League of Honolulu season with many great sluggers, Punahou senior Bucky Aona stood above the rest.

Aona, a designated hitter, batted .439 with three home runs and a whopping 25 RBIs in 18 games.

ILH coaches cemented Aona's status as the league's premier power hitter when they voted him as the Player of the Year.

Punahou, the ILH's regular-season champion, placed only one other player on the league's all-star first team, second baseman Maika Murashige.

Regular-season runner-up Iolani led the way with six players on the first team: first baseman Reyn Nagamine, third baseman Case Miyahira, shortstop Brett Hasegawa, outfielders C.J. Johnson and Travis Nishioka, and pitcher Wally Marciel.

Overall league champion Kamehameha placed three players: catcher Stuart Kam, pitcher Kapono Chang and utility player Waylen Sing Chow.

Mid-Pacific outfielder Adam Tamashiro and Damien designated hitter Jowyn Alapai round out the first team.

Pac-Five's Todd Koishigawa was named Coach of the Year after guiding the Wolfpack to a tie for fourth place.
