The Hawaii International Film Festival is holding an official Oscar Night America Party, sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, as its annual fundraiser March 5.
The black-tie-optional event includes dinner, a silent auction and an advance telecast of the Academy Awards. Money raised from ticket sales and the silent auction help sustain the festival throughout 2006.
The film festival will roll out a red carpet at The Pacific Club in advance of the party. Guests will watch the Academy Awards telecast on several large screens, courtesy of ABC affiliate KITV 4.
There's a Predict the Winners Contest, for which guests fill out ballots during the party; the winner will be notified that night. In the past, guests have won DVD players, a year of free video rentals, and Neighbor Island package giveaways. In addition, there will be door prizes, raffle items and a silent auction of film memorabilia, autographed DVDs, designer handbags, hotel stays and more.
Tickets may also be purchased at The Pacific Club on the day of the event.
