Viloria suffers broken right hand

World Boxing Council light flyweight champion Brian Viloria said he will be out of training "from two to three weeks" after breaking a bone in his right hand during last week's title defense.
The unbeaten (19-0, 12 knockouts) Viloria won a unanimous 12-round decision over Jose Antonio Aguirre of Mexico in Las Vegas on Saturday, the last nine or 10 rounds while fighting with the injury to his biggest weapon, the powerful right hand.
Viloria said he believes he suffered the injury to his fourth metacarpal in the "second or third rounds" while landing a blow to his opponent's head. "I knew something happened," Viloria said. "I knew I hurt it."
Viloria said the hand was X-rayed after the fight and has been put in a cast.
He injured another bone in the same hand in 2001, his first year as a pro, and missed more than two months at the time.
During his layoff, Viloria said he will head to Japan this weekend to watch fellow 2000 U. S. Olympian Jose Navarro's WBC super flyweight title fight against Masamori Tokuyama. Viloria will also visit the Philippines and Hawai'i.
He said his manager, Gary Gittelsohn, is looking into opportunities for his next title defense.
