Teens run away from foster care

Two more runaway foster children are being sought by the state Department of Human Services.
Janelle Alani, 16, was last seen Jan. 3 on Kaiminani Drive in Kailua, Kona, on the Big Island. She is 5 feet 7 and 120 to 130 pounds. She has brown, shoulder-length hair and brown eyes.
Jennifer Tubera, 15, was last seen Friday in Waipahu. She has long brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
CHILDREN'S PHOTO PROJECT GETS GRANT
Project Focus Hawai'i has been given $12,950 grant for its 2006 project from the James and Abigail Campbell Family Foundation. The grant, as well as an in-kind donation from Fuji Film, fully funds the group's 2006 project, which will benefit Women in Need youth programs.
Project Focus uses photography to raise the self-esteem of children. Children are both photo subjects and photographers in a 12-week program conducted by two professional photographers.
Children from WIN's transitional housing project will be selected for the photography internship program.
Project Focus Hawai'i, founded by photographers Laurie Breeden Callies of Baby Face Productions and Lisa Uesugi of Utopia Photography, selected Parents and Children Together's community teen program, at the Kuhio Park Terrace public housing complex, for their first project last year.

RECYCLING DRIVE ON SATURDAY
A recycling drive to benefit the Waikiki Community Center will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor.
Residents can bring down their old scrap metal, appliances, auto parts, bicycles, newspapers, cardboard, beverage containers, plastic, glass, aluminum, old tires and green waste for recycling. No fluids will be accepted.
A group of local businesses called the "Earth Day Partners," are collecting the recyclables, and donating the proceeds to the center. Collection containers will be set up near the harbor master's office. Volunteers, especially those with trucks or vans, are also needed to help.

SCHOOL'S FUN DAY SET FOR MARCH 5
'Aina Haina School will hold its 26th annual Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 5 on the school campus at 801 W. Hind Drive, across from the 'Aina Haina Shopping Center.
Rides, a pony and petting zoo, games, a dunk booth, crafts, white elephant items, a silent auction and food are some of the offerings.
All proceeds from this fundraiser help to support technology and enrichment programs. Admission is free. Call 372-7702 for more information.
KAHUKU
ONLINE AUCTION TO AID SCHOOL BAND
The Kahuku High School Symphonic Band is sponsoring an auction to help pay for a trip to perform at Disneyland.
Items up for bid include the first season of "Lost" signed by actor Terry O'Quinn; a surfboard made by Dennis Pang and art by Wyland.
