'Anuenue won two of the three varsity races yesterday in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Paddling Championships at Ke'ehi Lagoon.

'Anuenue won the boys race in 3 minutes, 59.6 seconds. McKinley (4:01.2) was second and Kalaheo (4:02.9) third.

'Anuenue won the girls race in 4:37.6, followed by Mililani (4:38.2) and Moanalua (4:42.1).

Castle won the mixed varsity race in 4:17.1. Kapolei (4:21.8) was second and 'Anuenue (4:27.3) third.

In the JV competition, Kalaheo won the boys and mixed races, and Pearl City captured the girls race.

MCKINLEY, NANAKULI NAME NEW COACHES

Bobby Grey has been named head football coach at McKinley High School, athletic director Neal Takamori announced earlier this week.

Grey replaces William Moeava, who resigned in December after three seasons. Grey's father, Chester "Ghost" Grey, was an all-star running back at McKinley in the 1970.

Also, William Tai Apisa has been named head football coach at Nanakuli, replacing Al Beaver, who resigned in November after six seasons. Apisa is a nephew of former Farrington and Michigan State standout Bob Apisa.
