Hawai'i Pacific breaks through

Joseph Ison and Finis Harwell each scored 15 points as Hawai'i Pacific rallied past visiting Brigham Young-Hawai'i, 69-61, last night at Mid-Pacific Institute gym for its first Pacific West Conference win of the season.

Donnell Dobbins scored 11 points and Audrius Peciukas and Rick Wilson each added 10 for the Sea Warriors, who improved to 5-14 overall and 1-4 in the PacWest.

Wilson was 8 for 8 from the free-throw line, where HPU outscored BYUH 20-11.

Austin Smylie had 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Seasiders, who led 34-29 at the half and did not relinquish the lead until a little more than three minutes remained in the game.

Paul Peterson added career-high five steals, and Wu Tai-Hao came off the BYUH bench to contribute career highs in assists (five) and blocks (four) in just 19 minutes.
