Unionized workers at the Ilikai Hotel ratified a new four-year contract Tuesday night, UNITE HERE Local 5 said.

The contract, which covers about 200 employees, includes the same economic benefits as union agreements reached earlier this year with other Waikiki hotels, according to Local 5. Those contracts include wage increases of $2.40 an hour over four years for non-tipped workers, and $1.20-an-hour increases for tipped workers over the same period.

"Above all else, I'm happy we secured our medical, secured an increase in our wages and agreed to growth," said Tammy Omoso, a 20-year front-desk clerk at the Ilikai.

The agreement comes after Anekona, a company headed by Big Island developer Brian Anderson, bought the Ilikai's 703 hotel units and commercial areas in two towers in July.

Local 5 still has to negotiate employee contracts with the Kahala Hotel & Resort and the Ala Moana Hotel. A ratification vote for Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa employees is scheduled for tomorrow.
