  • SUSAN DOYLE of Aloha United Way and TOM SCHNEIDER of Shriners Hospital for Children-Honolulu have been re-elected to new three-year terms on the Hawaii Employers Council, Board of Governors. They join 11 other newly elected Hawai'i executives, who will serve until the end of 2009. Other members include: AMY EJERCITO, Hawaiian Electric Co. Inc.; GARY KAJIWARA, Kuakini Health System; LYNN McCRORY, Pahio Resorts Inc.; KURT MATSUMOTO, Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows; BRIAN NISHIDA, Maui Pineapple Co. Ltd.; BARBARA NISHIIWA, Castle & Cooke Homes Hawaii Inc.; JEROME RAUCKHORST, Catholic Charities Hawai'i; SHEILA SUMIDA, First Hawaiian Bank, and WADE WAKAYAMA, Ameron Hawaii. The council provides professional services to management of more than 800 member firms in the areas of human resources, labor relations, employment law, research and business education programs, with an eye toward nurturing positive employer-employee relations.

  • JAY TALWAR has been named senior vice president of marketing at the Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau. Talwar has been with HVCB since 2004 as vice president of marketing, primarily for the North America market. In addition to innovative multi-media marketing programs, he also oversaw complete redevelopment of the bureau's GoHawaii.com Web site.

  • MARK HAWORTH, general sales manager at Visionary Related Entertainment, has joined the board of directors of the Keiki Injury Prevention Coalition, a community organization dedicated to the well-being of Hawai'i's children. On the board, he joins Speedy Bailey of American Medical Response; Susan LaFountaine of Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children; Dr. Linda Rosen, state Department of Health chief of emergency medical services; Dr. Kenn Saruwatari of Straub Pearlridge, Carolyn Fujioka of State Farm Insurance Co., and Billie Lockwood of Straub Clinic and Hospital.

  • American Savings Bank has hired Dean Hirabayashi as vice president, commercial real estate loan officer. The 21-year banking and commercial real estate veteran comes to American from Alexander & Baldwin Properties, where he worked for four years as a project manager. American is Hawai'i's third-largest financial institution with $6.9 billion in assets.

  • Marketing, advertising and public relations veteran KEN BECKER has been named vice president of sales and marketing for Brookfield Homes Hawai'i. Prior to joining Brookfield, Becker was vice president of corporate marketing for a large Las Vegas homebuilder. Also, CRAIG OKAMOTO has been named chief financial officer for Brookfield Homes Hawai'i, a venture between local ownership and one of the Mainland's larger home building firms, Brookfield Homes.

  • Doubletree Alana Hotel-Waikiki has promoted long-time team member Thomas Dang to housekeeping supervisor and appointed Dione Kamakele to accounting manager. Dang was recognized as Doubletree's CARE Champion of the Year in 2004 and Catch Me at My Best National Award winner in 2006. Prior to joining Doubletree, Kamakele was accounting assistant at Aloha Care.
