The owner of Lex Brodie's Tire Co. has reached a deal to sell the company and its five O'ahu locations to an unidentified buyer that intends to continue operating the local brand of tire and gasoline stations.
Finova Hawaiian Holdings LLC, an affiliate of Arizona-based financing firm Finova Group Inc. that acquired Lex Brodie's in a 2002 foreclosure, recently notified the state of the sale, expected to be completed Sept. 29.
Wayne Mau, an attorney representing Finova, said the buyer's identify is confidential pending completion of the sale, but that the buyer has indicated that it expects to continue business as usual under the Lex Brodie's name.
Lex Brodie's has five stations, in Kaka'ako, Kalihi, Waipahu, Pearl City and Kane'ohe. About 70 employees at the stations are not expected to be affected by the sale.
